Food and service were both amazing. I would love to come back here again. I tried carpaccio at so many restaurants and it was one of the best here in San Antonio.

Spectacular. Perfecto. Bueno. I mean. I can't even. Perfect Dirty Martinis. Wonderful craft cocktails. Wine list to keep my wine-snob husband happy. Pasta to give my carb cravings what they need.....there is not one thing we've ordered here that is not seriously wonderful. We eat at the bar a lot and enjoy the neighborhood crowd vibe. You can tell that people come here and keep coming back night after night after night- that says a lot about a place. I love that you can come here dressed up or dressed casual and fit in just fine too. It's the best of Italian food.

The food and ambiance were excellent. I had the eggplant parmigiana and it was probably the best I have ever had.

Aldo's was incredible! What a beautiful restaurant with amazing service and delicious food! We went for their Friday lunch special and were so happy we tried this place out. The lamb shank special (Aldo's Stinco Di Agnello) being only $19 is unreal! (Fast food these days cost $15 so the fact a meal of that quality is priced that way was ridiculous!) Perfectly done and had dill on it which neither of us had tried with lamb before. I had the Gamberetto salad with grilled gulf shrimp and pears, it was delicious! It was my friend's birthday so I told the waiter and they came out with a cheesecake with beautiful presentation. My friend LOVES cheesecake and can be picky about what cheesecake he likes, but he said this is probably his new favorite. It was amazing! We are already talking about going back sometime soon because there's other dishes we want to try.. including the meatballs that we were eyeing at a table next to us. This was really such a nice experience, can't wait to return soon!

We came here to celebrate husband's 35th birthday dinner. He loves a good lasagna and the kids like pasta, so it was a win win. Parking isn't bad since there are several open lot spots on multiple sides of the restaurant. We were seated rather quickly and our server arrived shortly thereafter. It wasn't super busy for a Sunday evening but it began to pick up pace around the time we were leaving. Our server didn't check in as much as I would have liked, but I don't have an issue flagging someone down. Drink wise, everyone was happy with their beverages. My blackberry mojito was refreshing! Appetizers: Calamari tasted good but I didn't find the marinara to be spicy as indicated on the menu. We loved the prosciutto & fig bruschetta! Ensalada: I LOVED the beet salad. Tho I love beets, goat cheese and arugula in general lol. I do wish they left larger chunks of pistachio for the texture balance but the flavors were well balanced. Husband enjoyed his cast iron lasagna - tho I think the portion was smaller than expected. The 12 y/o got carbonara for the first time and really really liked it. Really good flavor. My scampi colina had really large shrimp (yay!), jumbo lump crab, artichoke hearts, mushrooms and angel hair pasta with a lemon butter sauce. I wish I had more mushrooms and artichokes but that's a personal preference. The 7 y/o wanted ravioli. The only ravioli on the menu is a lobster ravioli with a vodka Rossini sauce. She was not a fan. So we ordered a pizza for her and took the pasta home with us. Our tab came to about $300ish for 2 adults & 2 kids with 4 entrees, 1 pizza, 2 appetizers, 2 lemonades & 3 alcoholic beverages.

After running errands in Boerne, Marjan and I stopped for cocktails and appetizers at Aldo's on Interstate 10. This upscale restaurant is found in the tony area around the Dominion, in the same strip center as Silo's, another upscale restaurant. There is an abundance of parking in front of and to the rear of the restaurant. Mounting the steps to the entrance, we chose seating at the bar. The visit was somewhat of a reunion, as Marjan visited with the owner, Aldo, and several of the waitstaff, their friendship dating for several years. Welcoming and friendly, their good cheer prepares every patron for a special visit. We began our evening with dirty martini, and as readers of our missives know, we are fans of the beverage. Excellent preparation by the mixologist here. We selected the Carpaccio di Salmone, the tender slices of fish, melt in the mouth fish, are dressed with dill aioli and capers. We considered the carpaccio an excellent preparation. Next up, their version of the dish, Cioppino. This fish stew, originated in San Francisco, is a cornucopia of clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops and snapper, literally swimming in a sea of tomato based broth. The Aldo version is seasoned with a touch of saffron and served with their artisanal toast. This iteration of the stew was spot on...just excellent. If one is in search of a lighter menu item, look no further. We were interested in a digestif, and the mixologist recommended their carajillo. But friends, the Aldo's version is not the expected cold beverage libation. This coffee and liquor cocktail is prepared, then set aflame in front of the patron, a drink that is as delicious as its preparation is impressive. Aldo's is a long time Alamo City favorite. Its elegant ambiance and exceptional cuisine definitely warrant top ratings. Marjan gives it 5 origami boots! Enjoy yelpers!!

It's National Red Wine day... so why not a Bartolo with some tasty Italian food. We drive by often but hadn't stopped in a while. No reservation, no problem.. but If you go on the weekend definitely recommend a reservation as it gets crowded. Our waiter Ernesto was awesome.. great service and friendly conversation. The wine menu has great Italian varietals. We chose a tasty Barolo. For appetizer we had Arancini. Very flavorful and crispy. My wife had the lobster ravioli in a vodka tomato sauce and I had the short rib and risotto. Simply delicious, beautifully presented and well portioned. For dessert Ernesto brought us cheesecake...so good Well priced, excellent location and atmosphere. A definite must if you find yourself on 10 near the Dominion!

Oh Aldo's the institution you were ad med center for so many years. Wheeling and dealing medical professionals abound in those years - plenty of industry meetings and educational conference for sure. Now that you are down by the dominion it's definitely different feel. The service was just right not too intrusive but available. The food was good overall- the shrimp appetizer (hot) was very good. The eggplant parm was a little on the soggy side (the accompanying pasta and veggies were fine). The salad was not what I was expecting - but that was on me. What it turned out to be was more like a salad appetizer- bruschetta, artichokes, cold shrimp. In my head I remembered it differently but I should have read the description. I would definitely try something different. We went on a Sunday afternoon but I can see that it can potentially get a little loud with the high ceilings. We will be back. It's nice having you in the neighborhood and I don't know why we waited so long to go. Stop by. Make reservations. Just go.

Restaurant Week is one of my favorite events in San Antonio. It is a great opportunity to sample a good variety of restaurant foods, including appetizer, and dessert. This Restaurant Week was at Aldo's. Because the Restaurant Week prices are pretty much similar to other restaurants during this week, I can't talk to the price point, however, I have noticed, during other visits, that they are on the high side. Off the Restaurant Week menu, I ordered the prosciutto and fig bruschetta as an appetizer. It was unbelievably delicious. It came with rosemary on top, which enhanced the prosciutto and fig taste. Really, I would return just for the bruschetta alone. And the portion was huge. I was less impressed with the entree and dessert choices. I did not love my Picata Trota. It was ok. Nothing I would order again or recommend. I felt it lacked taste and the pasta needed more flavoring. Dessert was the same. I had the cheesecake, which was very bland and soft. There wasn't much of a flavor to it. The other choice was tiramisu, which I don't like, but others at my table enjoyed it, so maybe, that was the dessert to order. Our server was extremely quiet and reserved, but did a great job with the service. Everything arrived on time and given that there were so many people at our table, he was able to keep up with all the orders. Definitely no complaints there. On the whole, Aldo's Restaurant Week menu was fine, but a bit underwhelming. The choices were very basic, but there were some wins, such as the bruschetta. The great thing was that they participated in Restaurant Week, and it was a good opportunity to savor a selection of their food.
